Mia was born and raised on the island of Kauai. She
started her career as a makeup artist in 2002 after taking makeup artistry classes from Susan Page Modeling.
After graduating from high school she moved to Oahu to obtain her college degree and started assisting doing hair and makeup for weddings.
Upon graduating with her BA in Business Administration she attended Ampy's Institute of Advanced Aesthetics and obtained her Esthetician License in March 2008.
Mia has worked at numerous spas on Oahu and at the Halele'a Spa at St. Regis Princeville.

I feel so fortunate to have had MIA do my make-up & hair on my wedding day! She also did hair & make-up for my bridesmaids and a few other family members. I had 48 guest at my wedding and many were impressed with Mia's work! She really did a fantastic job! Mia traveled to my hotel room the morning of and was extremely punctual and easy to work with. Most importantly she listens to you and delivers! Her fees are extremely competitive and her service was above and beyond! Everyone in my wedding party was so happy with how their hair and make-up turned out - especially me! It was so nice that you were able to come to the wedding site to get us all glammed up! It allowed us to relax and enjoy the whole day - stress free. Even though my hair was short, you did a wonderful job creating just what I asked for, and it held up late into a night of dancing. Also, of course, the morning of the wedding, I woke up with a giant zit on my chin, but you were able to cover it up, and it's totally invisible in the pictures. "I had just moved to Maui and I was dealing with the stress of not just the move, but also having to plan a wedding. To make matters worse, my new job didn't pay as much as my old job, so there was a lot of pressure to make cuts in our wedding budget. Fortunately, Mia's prices were very reasonable, and after looking at her online portfolio I knew that I would be getting more than my money's worth. Being on different islands made me a bit nervous because I knew there wouldn't be time for a trial run, but I trusted my instincts. The results were amazing! I had a morning wedding, so she finished my hair and make up around 6 am or so. I was worried because it had to last the whole day, and I knew we were going to take sunset photos on the beach at 6:30 pm. Mia provided me with a touch up kit to use throughout the day in case I needed it. Amazingly, I didn't even touch the touch up kit! Our beach photos turned out great (despite it being 12 hours after Mia had done my make up and hair!), and I didn't even do so much as to reapply lip gloss! Mia is truly an artist with quality products, and I thank her so much for making me look amazing on the happiest day of my life."

WHAT KIND OF FLOWERS SHOULD I CHOOSE FOR MY HAIR?
The most commonly used flowers for bridal hair are orchids, because they are the most durable. The cymbidium orchid is a larger sized orchid that is quite popular. Roses and peonies are also beautiful, but do not last as long.
DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH AFRICAN-AMERICAN HAIR?
Yes, I have experience with all hair types.
WHAT KIND OF MAKEUP DO YOU USE?
I primarily use Cinema Secrets and Make Up For Ever for foundation, MAC for eyeshadows and liners, and a private label for lips.
WHAT IF I NEED TO TOUCH UP MY MAKEUP/HAIR DURING MY WEDDING?
One complimentary touch up kit will be provided to the bride on the day of her wedding. The touch up kit includes a pressed powder compact, lip gloss sample, 1 disposable lip brush, 1 disposable makeup remover filled swab. Additional touch up kits may be purchased at $20 a piece.
I HAVE A TATTOO, CAN YOU COVER IT UP?
Tattoos can be temporarily covered.
WHAT IS THE EARLIEST TIME YOU WILL DO A WEDDING?
I prefer to not have to get the bridal party up any earlier than 4am. However, I have no cutoff time as to anything being too early, any time is possible.
DO YOU GIVE DISCOUNTS?
Due to my already low prices I do not offer any discounts at this time.
DO I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING THE DAY OF MY WEDDING BEFORE YOU COME?
Make sure you wash your hair the night before. Your hair should be DRY upon arrival. Your face should be clean and moisturized. Be sure to wear a button downed shirt so that your hairstyle is not disturbed when you need to change into your dress.
DO YOU PROVIDE FLOWERS FOR MY HAIR?
If you would like flowers to put in your hair you will need to arrange that with your florist or coordinator. If you have neither a florist or coordinator I can find flowers for you. The charge for the flowers will go toward your final total and will be however much I had to pay for them.
HOW DO I SECURE MY WEDDING DAY?
A $50 non-refundable deposit and signed booking agreement is required to secure your wedding day. The deposit will go towards your final total. Cash and checks are accepted. Please make checks payable to: Mia Moriguchi. To view the booking agreement go to the BOOKING page under the BRIDAL tab.
CAN YOU DO LARGE BRIDAL PARTIES?
Yes, large parties can be accomodated. I can handle parties of 4 or less by myself. Parties of 5 or more will require me to hire assistants.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Please notify me of any cancellations ASAP. Unfortunately your $50 deposit cannot be refunded.
HOW CAN I PAY MY FINAL BALANCE?
Cash and checks are accepted. Payment should be no later than the day of your wedding.
DO YOU COME TO MY HOTEL/SITE?
Yes, most of my brides prefer for me to come to them on their wedding day to avoid stressful traffic.
IS THERE A TRAVEL FEE?
Yes a travel fee will be charged if I am required to travel to you. The travel fee would depend on where you are getting ready at. Contact me for travel fees. Any parking fees that I have to pay will also be charged to your final total.
